    fitness & health update | spring 2019

There’s been a lot of changes in my fitness routine and health in the past six months or so. I made a number of changes at the beginning of the year, which have increased my overall wellness and confidence. I’ve also had to come to terms with taking the route of surgery (something I never wanted to do) for the sake of my long-term health. Firstly, at the beginning of 2019 I removed a lot of processed carbs and grains from my diet. I’m not going to lie, I was hesitant to make this change and doubted how it was going to impact how I felt. I was proven wrong.…

My Flexible Dieting Aldi Grocery List (and a few recipes)

At the beginning of 2018, I decided to sit down and take a look at my finances. Both a good and bad decision. I saw how much money I was spending on random grocery store trips throughout the month. I decided to end that by building a meal plan, shopping at Costco for bulk items, and switching back to shopping at Aldi. After a few shopping trips since the beginning of the year, I’ve finally narrowed in on my Aldi grocery list for two. I shopped exclusively at Aldi a few years back when I was living on my own and it was just down the road. Nowadays I have to…

Foods I Used to Hate That I Now Love

Surprisingly, I was not one of those kids that avoided their vegetables like the plague. I loved broccoli and peas when I was growing up, asking for them with my dinner. Apparently, I also ate salads at a young age which I distinctly remember topping with Italian dressing. I didn’t love all vegetables equally and until just recently, I wouldn’t touch some of them. Then there were foods that I gave up for the better part of my teenage years and early twenties, that are staples for my recipes. Isn’t it crazy how we continue to change and grow no matter where we are in life?  I think it’s quite beautiful…

    How I Meal Prep

Meal prepping to meet your fitness goals doesn’t have to be complicated. Food can be made in the simplest ways and ingredients can be prepped in advance for later down the week. I keep things as simple as possible with as many whole ingredients as possible and also by creating a basic menu for the week that I work off of. I make sure to have an idea of what I want for my lunches and dinners, and will pick to combine for the actual preps. Here’s how I meal prep, keep it easy, and reach my fitness goals.. Protein Packed French Toast

Protein packed French toast – you need this meal in your life. I’ve always considered myself a pancake girl, but lately French toast has been my thing! Not only do I love this recipe, but my boyfriend is also a big fan of French toast – always has been so this is a win-win for our house. I’m finally getting back into my lifts at the gym and my weight is maintaining so that means I get more carbs. I’ve been loving this recipe as my pre- or post-workout meal and the macros are perfect for what your body needs during either of those times. Even though I’m eating more…

    My IIFYM Grocery List

I visit the grocery store at least twice per week in order to have fresh food in the fridge and to keep on track with my nutrition. You can very easily make one grocery store trip for basics and have all your meals prep for the week. I’ve been following flexible dieting for about a year and a half and pretty…
